In the humid heart of southeastern Mexico, baseball is much more than a sport. The Olmecas de Tabasco wear the name of one of Mesoamerica's oldest civilizations on their uniforms. Among monumental stone heads, overflowing rivers, ancestral drums, and a stadium pulsing with an entire city, Land of the Giants: Tierra de Gigantes explores what it means to inherit a name and decide what to do with it. The story connects the Olmec past with the present of Tabasco through baseball, family, music, food, floods, and the generations that continue to defend their identity. At the center of this story are players, fans, families, and young people who dream of one day wearing that same uniform. For them, the Olmecas are not merely a team. They are an extension of their land. When the franchise's future and the weight of a historic season converge, all of Villahermosa plays every inning right alongside them. Because giants are not always the ones who leave. Sometimes, they are the ones who remain.
More than baseball
The sport opens the door, but the real story is about identity, family, memory, and belonging.
Three thousand years in one story
The colossal Olmec heads and the players who bear that name today are part of the same conversation about legacy.
Tabasco as protagonist
The river, the jungle, cacao, the rain, the drums, and Villahermosa do not serve as a backdrop. They are characters in the story.
A local story with global reach
The experience is deeply Mexican, but its themes—home, family, ambition, loss, and belonging—can be understood anywhere in the world.

“I have always been interested in stories where a place becomes much more than just a backdrop. Tabasco has an identity you can hear, feel, and almost touch. It is in the river, in the jungle, in the cacao, in the drums, in the stadium, and in the people who continue to proudly carry a name that has existed for thousands of years. Tierra de Gigantes uses baseball as a gateway into that story. I don't just want to tell the story of a team. I want to tell the story of a community that continues to find new ways to endure.”
To create a cinematic series that connects Olmec history, Tabasco identity, and contemporary baseball to show how a culture remains alive when each generation chooses to make it their own.
Development on Land of the Giants: Tierra de Gigantes is now underway. The project features a script, a three-episode structure, visual direction, and a teaser concept designed to introduce the world of the Olmecas de Tabasco to an international audience. The next step is to continue developing imagery, pitch materials, and an initial audiovisual piece that captures the cinematic identity of the series.

Before the stadium existed, before the team existed, and long before anyone threw a baseball in Tabasco, giants already existed. Thousands of years ago, the Olmecs moved massive blocks of stone across a land of jungle, swamp, and river. They transformed them into faces that still endure. Centuries later, another group inherited that name. The Olmecas de Tabasco. But carrying the name of a giant also means bearing its weight. Every player who wears the uniform, every family that enters the stadium, every child who hits a ball in the rain, and every drum that echoes from a community to the grandstands takes part in something that began long before them. Land of the Giants: Tierra de Gigantes follows that invisible line. From the stone to the face. From the river to the generations. From the drum to the stadium. From the grandfather to the father. From the father to the son. And from a civilization that refused to disappear to a community that still says: “We are still here.”
Land of the Giants: Tierra de Gigantes is here to discover how far a story deeply rooted in a specific place can travel. The intention is to demonstrate that a story born in Tabasco can connect with sports fans, Latino audiences, and viewers around the world. Audience validation can help demonstrate interest in the series' production, future partnerships, international distribution, and new opportunities to bring this story to a global audience.
